To further interact with our community members and streamline the process of contributing to the X-Road core as well as other projects, we have started to create and maintain public backlogs for some of our projects. The first two projects to receive public backlogs are:

• X-Road
• X-Road Metrics

The items on those backlogs have been picked from our public JIRA as ones that we feel have the right scope to be completable by someone from the community and would not require our internal tooling to do so. To help users better navigate the issues we have added to GitHub, we also use the following labels:

• help wanted - which helps us distinguish issues that have a link in Jira from ones that have been created to projects by the community
• good first issue - which signifies that we feel this would be a great issue to get started with

Additionally, you may have noticed that some of the issues have the label "hacktoberfest" next to the. These are issues that have been picked to participate in this years Hacktoberfest, which is a month-long celebration of #OSS projects, their maintainers, and the community of contributors. In case you are interested, do check out the Hacktoberfest webpage as well to find more information about how to participate and the prizes they offer.

In the future, we hope to have more project backlogs on GitHub as well. In the meantime, everyone is still welcome to take a look at Jira backlogs as well in case you want to work on something we have not included there yet.
