X-Road 8 PoC status

1. As so far, the PoC has implemented support for:

   • connecting REST and SOAP services

   • signing messages

   • defining access permissions

   • secure connections between Security Servers

   • light context - consuming services without a Security Server on the consumer side

   • publishing DCAT service descriptions and collecting them centrally

     • the EDC has a catalog component that’s very similar to X-Road Catalog.

2. An internal instance of Gaia-X Digital Clearing House (GXDCH) services has been installed and configured.

3. Currently, the main focus is on making X-Road technically compatible with the Gaia-X trust framework.

4. Multiple open questions have been identified and further analysis is required on several topics, e.g.:

   • message logging, message signing, light context, secure connections between Security Servers.

  • Gaia-X Summit will be organised in Helsinki on November 14-15 2024.
